What's the Buzz on 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone' and 'Evil Dead'?

The 2013 SXSW Film Festival is officially underway in Austin, Texas, and Friday night saw the premiere of two big films moviegoers will definitely be interested in hearing more about. Definitely one of the oddest yet rewarding double-bills you'll see at a film festival this year, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone kicked things off with plenty of amusing over-the-top magician-related humor, and then handed the big-screen baton to the mega-gory Evil Dead, which may go down as one of the best of a recent string of '80s horror remakes. Jim Carrey Back In For New Dumb & Dumber Film

Jim Carrey broke fans’ hearts last year when he announced he was bowing out of a planned “Dumb and Dumber” sequel.

Now, Carrey – who is currently starring in “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” – says he’s definitely back in – but there’s still no start date for the comedy.

“I’m ready [to start filming],” Jim told E! News of reprising his role as Lloyd Christmas in the highly anticipated sequel to the 1994 hit. “There is a script. It’s fun. Jeff [Daniels] and I are raring to go.”

So, with Jim and Jeff on board (and a screenplay ready), why hasn’t the project been started?

“It’s administrative,” Jim explained. “The green light committees have to have their way.”

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Review

As predicted, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is a silly albeit heartwarming comedy featuring the quintessential comedy stylings of Steve Carell. Steve Buscemi and Jim Carrey help round out a comedic cast not unfamiliar with this kind of cookie-cutter comedy pic, though no amount of over-the-top body humor (hello, Mr. Carrey) could make this movie anything more than a formulaic fluff-piece that will, no doubt, appease a good portion of the movie-going masses.

Here’s a rundown of the plot: Burt Wonderstone (Carell), a wimp-turned-super-magician, rules the Vegas Strip with his show The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton (Buscemi). He is increasingly disillusioned by fame, and growing tired of his best friend and co-host, Marvelton. When a new “magician” comes into town the likes of which neither of them has seen (Carrey), Burt must re-evaluate his life and what magic means to him. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone does find its way to some genuine laughs!
